Star Anise
Star Anise is the star-shaped dried fruit of a Southeast Asian evergreen tree. It is sweeter and with a more prominent licorice note than aniseed. It has a more uniform scent. Star Anise is a key ingredient in the Chinese 5 spice blend which is sweet and unusual. Star Anise belongs to the magnolia and champaca family.
